The Walt Disney Company has agreed to buy the streaming service Hulu Plus for an undisclosed amount, according to a person familiar with the transaction.
The Hulu acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, which is expected to approve it next week.
The deal, which will be announced next week, is expected in the coming weeks, according the person, who asked not to be identified because the transaction is private.
The purchase price is expected more than $6 billion.
The Walt Disney Co. and Hulu are expected to merge.
Disney, which owns the streaming rights to Hulu Plus, will retain some Hulu Plus customers.
Hulu Plus, which was launched in 2012, offers subscribers access to a wide range of original content, including sports and movies, documentaries and documentaries about celebrities.
