Posted April 06, 2020 14:14:10The next generation in media management is coming, and it’s coming in droves.
As you’ve probably heard, Google is adding support for a new kind of content management system (CMS) called Google Cloud Media Manager, a new feature for organisations that need to manage their content more effectively.
“It’s an easy way to manage your own digital content,” says Google’s CMO, Nick Pickett.
“There are a lot of things you can do to help keep your content on track, including setting it up and setting it aside to help with the scheduling and delivery of the content.”
If you have a lot or all of your content that’s not in your digital footprint, you can have it automatically uploaded and available to you as you go through your day.
“Google Cloud Media manager was announced last week by Google at a Google+ event and it will be available on the Google Play store soon.”
Google Cloud media manager enables you to manage digital content and ensure it gets delivered in the way you want it to be delivered,” Pickett said.”
The key here is making sure that the content is available and relevant and that it’s relevant to your users.
“So if you have content that has been posted to your blog, but it’s been removed and people don’t have the link to it, you may have it in a way that doesn’t make it available to them.”
What are you planning to do to keep your users happy?
Read moreA few weeks ago, I shared the story of a media agency that had to deal with a big user spike in the middle of the day, so they had to get a new digital media manager.
“We’re still a little bit in shock at the amount of traffic we had in the afternoon and night, and we were trying to decide what to do about it,” the agency’s head of digital said.
“We were struggling with how to manage it.”
As the hours went by, we realised there was a need to get people up and running and do something about it.
We were able to get our content back up and on the web and get them online.””
I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had people email us telling us that they had a problem with their digital content, and they wanted to know how we could make it better.
We have people who just want to be able to see it and say, ‘I’ve just watched this video, and I’d love to get this on the site’.
“We just couldn’t get them to see their digital media, so we had to make a change.
It’s not just us that’s getting tired of it, it’s all the businesses that we have.”
In the past, the media manager might have been responsible for all the content management for the whole company.
Now, they’ll be managing all of it and are responsible for its delivery.
“You have a bit of flexibility,” says Pickett, “because you can manage the delivery of content and the delivery to the clients that you need to have access to, but you can also get access to all the other things that you would normally need to be managing like scheduling, delivery, scheduling, and getting people online.”
With Cloud media management, you get a bit more control of the delivery and content that you’re managing.
“That’s important, because you want to make sure that you have all the resources that you can in place for your clients.”
“You can’t manage everything at once,” says Tom McElroy, the CEO of the media agency Digital Media Solutions.
“So you have to look at all the pieces.
It may be the content that needs to be managed, or the clients needs to have a particular type of content.
If there’s an issue with one of those, then you can make sure you have the resources to get it resolved.”
Digital Media Solutions is one of the many media management companies that is using Google Cloud media managers.
It employs about 15 people and has around 100 employees.
“What’s exciting about this is that it allows us to do things that we never would have been able to do with traditional media management,” says McElry.
“That’s because it’s easier to do, you know, you don’t need a whole bunch of people.
You just have to give the people the tools and they’ll take care of it.”
So if the company has to manage a ton of content in a day, how do you manage it all in a single place?
Digital Media Services offers a range of services.
The majority of its work is done on Google’s servers, which are powered by Google’s cloud services.
“It’s the same system that powers Google’s mobile devices, so it has all the same tools that are available on Google, like a unified data centre, and also an internal data centre that can handle large amounts of content,” McElries
