Hacker News reader @snowden69 posted a screenshot of the email message he received from Google, explaining that signing up for the email newsletter will allow him to send and receive free email alerts.
It appears to be a Google email signed up with the email address “[email protected]”.
Snowden also wrote: You are now a “salt of the earth” and an outsider, who is trying to exploit the weakness in the web.
You have nothing to gain by using our system, and the world will never be the same.
The email included a link to download the Google email newsletter and also a link that opens a Google Analytics page.
While the email did not ask for anything else, it is likely that the email could have been sent to a user that had recently signed up for Gmail.
This email message has now been shared on several social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
Google has responded to the issue and has been in touch with the user to inform them that they have violated Google’s terms of service.
I will have more information as soon as I receive it.
